Janus is a sand-casted head by Bertil Vallien in which one half is awake and the other is asleep. Since the mid-1990s, this dual nature has become a recurring theme in Vallien’s work—connected to the Roman god Janus, the god of dawn and dusk, in an eternal search for dialogue. Janus is produced in Kosta in a limited edition of 100 pieces and is mounted on a granite base.
